Mentoring and Consulting

Mentoring one-to-one is a passion for writer, Sarah Yates.  She’s made it a specialty.

Whether you want to write a book or start up an aboriginal art school in northern Manitoba, Sarah brings expertise and enthusiasm to the table.

One-to-one mentoring entails

  • Identifying your strengths
  • Finding your inner voice
  • Conducting or assisting in original research
  • Organizing your ideas into the words that tell your story

Social workers, city planners, truck drivers, poets and psychology students have worked with Sarah Yates to publish their dreams.

As a consultant, Sarah Yates works with partner Pat Bovey and a committee of volunteers, now board members of the Aboriginal Art Centre for Northern Manitoba to develop a cohesive plan that enables action.

Consulting entails

  • Active listening
  • Original research
  • Cohesive planning
  • Report writing
  • Working with individuals and groups to identify and clarify a unified voice.

For the past five years, the two partners produced conclusive reports, an architectural competition and a workable business plan to help Spirit Way, now the board of the Aboriginal Art Centre for Northern Manitoba in Thompson, to help make the non-profit group’s dreams a reality.  We’re almost there!

Work with us to realize your dream.

Testimonials

“Sarah is a wonderful person to work with...encouraging and supportive emphasizing the strong areas of a person’s writing. The book is much stronger because of her help. ...attention to detail when it comes to the content. She would really question me about things I wrote and help me to re-write or simplify certain ideas.

“I would highly recommend her to anyone else who is an artist in need of someone to work with. She will help you share the music that is inside you.”

“Spirit Way Inc. is a non-profit community based organization in Thompson, MB that contracted Pat Bovey and Sarah Yates to undertake a feasibility study and needs assessment for a Canadian Centre of Aboriginal Art. Their work involved a great deal of research and interviews with native artists and northern stakeholders. Sarah has an innate ability to make people feel comfortable which allows them to open up.

“Sarah achieves a quick understanding of the issues and is able to write about it. She was sensitive to and appreciative of Aboriginal cultural issues and concerns."

Volker Beckmann, Spirit Way Inc.

"Sarah has been a wonderful mentor. At the beginning of our working relationship, she gently guided me as I found my writer’s voice.

“...recognized the importance of well-researched text, graphic design, publicity and sales. She pays careful attention to detail and keeps the wishes of her customer front and centre.”
